The nominations for the 2025 Trace Awards are out, and some of Ghana’s biggest stars have made it into top categories. The awards celebrate African and Afro-inspired music and culture and will happen on February 26, 2025, in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
About the Trace Awards
The Trace Awards honor the best in Afro music, including Afrobeat, dancehall, hip-hop, Afropop, amapiano, gospel, and many more. Artists from over 30 countries in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond will compete in 24 categories.
Ghana has a strong presence this year, with several artists receiving major nominations:
- Stonebwoy is leading the way with two nominations: “Album of the Year” for his project 5th Dimension and “Best Male Artist.”
- Amaarae is also nominated for “Album of the Year” with Fountain Baby.
- King Promise joins the “Album of the Year” category for his project True to Self.
- Sarkodie is nominated for “Best Artist – Hip-Hop,” showing his continued success in the rap scene.
Ghana’s vibrant dance scene is also being recognized:
- Incredible Zigi and Dancegod Lloyd are competing for “Best Dancer.”
In the “Best Collaboration” category, Black Sherif is nominated for his feature on OdomoduBlvk’s song Wotowoto Season.
Producer Jae5 is in the running for “Best Producer” thanks to his work on King Promise’s song Perfect Combi.
Finally, KiDi is representing Ghana in the “Western Anglo African” category.
With artists from over 30 countries competing, the Trace Awards will showcase the best music from Africa and beyond. This year’s event will highlight how African music is influencing the global stage.
